Alan Wade – Chairman of the Board
AlanWadeAlan Wade retired from federal service at the end of 2005 after a thirty-five-year career in the Central Intelligence Agency. He retired as the Chief Information Officer, a position he held since 2001.Alan graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute in Blacksburg, Virginia in 1973, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. In 1978, he received his Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from the George Washington University in Washington, D.C.Alan held a series of senior positions at CIA, including the Director of Communications, Director of Security, and Chief Information Officer. In his assignment as Chief Information officer, he was dual-hatted as the Chief Information Officer for the United States Intelligence Community.During his career, Alan’s contributions were recognized several times. He is a recipient of the National Intelligence Distinguished Service Medal, the Director’s Medal, and the Distinguished Intelligence Medal. Since retirement, Alan has worked with several early stage companies. He served on the boards of Safeboot N.V. (acquired by McAfee in 2007) and Detica DFI (acquired by BAE Systems in 2008).He currently serves on the boards of Composite Software in San Mateo, CA, Chiliad Inc. in Washington D.C., JSI Telecom in Sterling, VA and LexisNexis Special Services in Washington DC. Additionally, Alan serves on the Board of Trustees of Aerospace Corporation and on public sector advisory boards of several technology companies. Alan is also a member Board of the organization of retired CIA officers and the advisory board of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Virginia Tech.Alan lives in Annandale Virginia with his wife and two children.
Craig Norris President – Chief Executive Officer and Board Director
craignorrisCraig Norris is a high-technology industry veteran with over 20 years of front line experience leading profitable organizations in the areas of strategy, operations and sales. He has served as Chairman, President, CEO or COO of both private and public organizations, including Attensity, Ion Systems, Work Exchange Technologies and Connectinc. Craig has successfully navigated start-ups and early stage companies to IPO’s and other significant funding events, and has been continuously engaged with the completion of major sales to Fortune 500 organizations and the Federal Government. Craig also brings to Chiliad a strong management consulting and systems integration background, having been a regional vice president for leading international consulting firm CAP Gemini America. Craig graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. degree in economics from Macalester College, St. Paul, MN and holds an MBA from Fairleigh Dickenson University, Rutherford, NJ.
Christine Maxwell – Co-Founder and Board Director
A 35-year veteran of the scientific/educational publishing, market research, and online information retrieval industries, Ms. Maxwell has extensive expertise in the search and information retrieval industries. Chiliad is Ms. Maxwell’s second successful software company that she co-founded.  Her first start-up was the McKinley Group and its online search directory, Magellan.  Magellan was selected to be one of the top five directory sites displayed on the Netscape Home Page  in 1994-6. The McKinley Group and its online guide, Magellan was sold to Excite in 1996.Ms. Maxwell has continued her entrepreneurial activities, becoming involved in mobile start-up ventures and more recently in working on innovative online learning initiatives for tertiary educational institutions.Ms. Maxwell served as Director and Vice Chairman on the Board of Directors of the Internet Society, and as a Board Director of the Santa Fe Institute. She is an IPv6 Fellow of the Ipv6 Forum.  Ms. Maxwell is a graduate of Pitzer College, Claremont California with B.A. degrees in Sociology and Latin American Studies.  She has a Post Graduate Teaching Credential from Lady Spencer Churchill College, Oxford – now part of Oxford Brookes University.
Ron Weissman – Board Director
ronweissmanRonald Weissman has more than twenty-five years of experience in technology management, operations and investment. Since 2000 he has been a partner at Apax Partners, a leader in global venture capital and private equity. After Apax’s transition out of venture capital, he has continued to remain with the firm to manage its venture portfolio. Through Apax and his own angel activity Ron has invested in or advised more than 50 companies and has served on more than 25 early and mid-stage company Boards. His investment focus is on business software, analytics, SaaS, text technologies and healthcare IT. He currently is Chairman of the Software Special Interest Group of the Band of Angels, Silicon Valley’s oldest Angel group and a partner at Performance Works, a Silicon Valley strategy consulting firm. Prior to Apax, he was Vice President of Strategy and Marketing for Verity, a leader in corporate information retrieval and knowledge management. During his tenure at Verity, the company’s executive team earned the large company Turnaround of the Year award (1999) from the Turnaround Management Association; Verity gained dominant market share and saw its market capitalization grow from $50 million to more than $1.5 billion. Prior to Verity, Ron spent more than five years at NeXT Computer, where he managed European and corporate marketing. Prior to his work in Silicon Valley, he ran academic computing at Brown University and at the University of Maryland, where he was Associate Professor of History. He is the author of numerous works on the history of Florence during the Renaissance.A frequent conference speaker, Ron has published extensively on software trends and was one of three industry leaders profiled in the 2003-2006 Price Waterhouse Coopers Technology Forecast. He has been an advisor to many organizations and companies, including Apple Computer, Digital Equipment Corporation, IBM, Microsoft, NeXT, Sun Microsystems and Unisys. Ron has also served on US government advisory panels, including the future of electronic record keeping for the National Archives and Records Administration and the National Academy of Public Administration, and currently serves on a US State Department task force on the future of e-diplomacy.Ron is a Fulbright Scholar and member of Phi Beta Kappa. He received his BA, M.A., and Ph.D. degrees in History from the University of California at Berkeley. Ron serves on the advisory boards of market research firm BASEX, SVASE and VC Task Force. He is an Overseer of the University of Pennsylvania Libraries and an Associate Trustee of Penn and on the Corporate Council of the San Francisco Opera. His interests include music, European history, photography, politics and entrepreneurship.
Tyler MacCready – Board Director
tylermaccreadyAs an engineer and research scientist, Dr. Maccready has acted as a consultant to AeroVironment, Inc. – a public company committed to creating and delivering powerful new unmanned aircraft and electric vehicle solutions. For the past twelve years MacCready has worked closely with their Technology Initiatives group. His skills include mechanical and electrical engineering and technical writing. Ongoing projects range from developing ocean wave energy systems and solar-powered underwater vehicles to designing small wind turbines for urban environments.MacCready received a PhD in geology and geophysics from Monash University (Melbourne, Australia) in 1998. He also received an MSc in geology from the University of Wyoming in 1993 and a BA degree in philosophy from Yale University in 1984.
Kenneth R Levine – Board Director
kenlevineKen Levine is an investment banker and former attorney with extensive experience and focus on growth stage companies.Ken is currently the Senior Managing Director of First Equity Capital Securities, Inc. in New York, which he founded in 1992. First Equity is an investment bank and FINRA registered broker-dealer specializing in growth stage companies. As such, Ken has extensive experience with growing companies such as Chiliad. Ken’s areas of expertise include financing and mergers & acquisitions. Ken has developed a specialization in the burgeoning area of genetics and healthcare/wellness. In addition, Ken serves on the Board of Directors of five non-for-profit health related organizations.Prior to founding First Equity, Ken was an attorney with the firm of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett in New York. He is a graduate of Harvard College, former Associate Editor of the Fordham Law Review, and was a law clerk to the former Chief Judge of the Federal District Court for the Southern District of New York.
Dr. Douglas M. Boyle, DBA, CPA, CMA - Board Director 
Douglas_BoyleDouglas Boyle is President of Empirical Healthcare Consulting. He brings over 25 years of experience in leadership, finance, and operations. He has served in executive roles in start-up, middle market, and Fortune 500 companies where he has held the titles of Chief Executive Officer, President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer, and Senior Auditor. Doug led the national financial revenue operations for Quest Diagnostics (a Fortune 500 healthcare company) where he was responsible for over $4 billion in annual cash flow and 3,000 employees. He also served as CEO, President, and CFO for Diamond Company (a national glass company), CFO for Doylestown Hospital and Healthcare System, and CFO for MediMax (a healthcare securitization firm). Doug serves on the Board of Directors of GeneLink BioSciences (a public healthcare company), where he is Chairman of the Audit Committee and a member of the Nominating, Governance and Compensation Committees. He also serves on the Board of Directors for Allied Services Health System (a not-for-profit healthcare system), where he also serves on the Finance Committee and as Board Chairman of the Allied Services Skilled Nursing Center. Doug is an executive coach, professional speaker, author, and award winning researcher and professor in business. His research has been published in The CPA Journal, Strategic Finance, The Journal of Business and Behaviors Sciences, The Journal of Applied Business Research, Current Issues in Auditing, Internal Auditing, Issues in Accounting Education, and Management Accounting Quarterly. He was awarded research grants from The Institute of Internal Auditors and The Institute of Management Accountants and awards for his research from The Institute of Internal Auditors and the School of Accountancy at Kennesaw State University. He received the University of Scranton’s Excellence in Scholarly Publication Award for 2012 and was named the Kania School of Management Teacher of the Year for 2009-2010 and 2011-2012. Doug holds an Executive Doctorate Degree in Business Administration from at Kennesaw State University, an MBA from Columbia University, and a BS in Accounting from the University of Scranton. He currently serves as a Department Chair and Professor at the University of Scranton and has also served as a Professor at Delaware Valley College and Holy Family University. Doug is a Certified Public Accountant, a Certified Management Accountant, and Six Sigma Black Belt trained in Operations.
