ITT and Chiliad to demonstrate Chiliad Discovery/Alert at the 2008 DoDIIS Conference
Chiliad Discovery/Alert is one of the most significant breakthroughs in discovering hidden relationships in data across multiple agencies and security domains since the events of 9/11.

Washington, D.C. – March 13, 2008 – ITT Corporation (NYSE: ITT) and Chiliad, Incorporated, today announced plans to demonstrate Chiliad Discovery/Alert at the 2008 DoDIIS Worldwide Conference, booth #811,  in San Diego, CA, March 17-20.  Chiliad Discovery/Alert is a unique software platform that enables users with the appropriate security privileges to search, analyze, navigate, discover new knowledge, collaborate, and receive instant alerts simultaneously across diverse datasets, regardless of where they are. Designed to meet all of the requirements of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) for the secure information sharing community, Chiliad Discovery/Alert has been tested successfully in the first ODNI-funded pilot to run secure, fully distributed peer-to-peer all-source fusion and alerting across intelligence and law enforcement agencies.

Under the direction of the Air Force Research Laboratory/Information Handling Branch (AFRL/IFEB) Rome Research Site and the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), ITT’s Rome, N.Y. office currently supports technology requirements for the Information Support Server Environment (ISSE) program. ISSE provides Certified and Accredited cross domain services facilitating the secure exchange of a diverse range of structured and unstructured data between dissimilarly classified networks. ISSE extends Chiliad’s fully distributed knowledge fusion and situational awareness capabilities by enabling information sharing from high side to multiple low side security domains and for hit notification, from low side to high side security domains.

"Chiliad’s cross-domain, cross-repository data fusion, knowledge discovery, and situational awareness have been described by some as approaching the ‘holy grail’ of electronic intelligence processing,” said Bob Blakely, vice president, ITT Advanced Engineering & Sciences. “Chiliad’s platform, in combination with the ISSE cross domain solution, delivers an enterprise-capable solution that is available today. ITT’s recent acquisition of Dolphin Technology in Rome, NY, which has served as the principal technology development contractor for ISSE for eight years, demonstrates ITT’s commitment to assisting the Department of Defense and the entire intelligence community to meet Government mandates for secure all-source, all-way information sharing.”

“Combining Chiliad’s platform with ISSE enables intelligence agencies to apply Chiliad’s technology across dissimilar security domains,” said Dan Ferranti, CEO, Chiliad. “Government and corporate decision makers have been locally informed but globally blind since the advent of the first mainframes and the first PC’s. By using parallel processing and knowledge fusion over a secure peer-to-peer software platform with global relevancy ranking and alerting, Chiliad has created a sea change in decentralized information sharing – the first real-time, data-driven ‘cooperative virtual computing platform’ to centralize the user, rather than the data.”

About Chiliad

Chiliad (www.chiliad.com) develops and licenses Discovery/Alert, the world’s leading software platform for all-source decentralized search, on-the-fly analysis and extraction, real-time knowledge fusion, dynamic navigation, and instant alerts. Chiliad is the FBI’s enterprise software solution for all-source counterterrorism search and analysis. The Investigative Data Warehouse has used Chiliad for high priority national security applications for six years. Chiliad delivers to nearly 10,000 analyst, agent and Joint Counterterrorism Task Force user accounts an average of one million queries/analyses per month, most of which run in parallel across close to one billion combined unstructured documents and structured database records from over 50 different multi-agency data sources. Users are connected to the National Counterterrorism Center and to databases of the Department of Homeland Security, the CIA, the NSA and the Pentagon. Chiliad’s software continuously monitors new arriving data and enables users to easily create intelligent filtering agents and receive proactive instant alerts. FBI officials have described this system as “the central database in the FBI's information-sharing approach in the post-9/11 world,” and the capability as “one of the most powerful data analysis tools available to law enforcement and counterterrorism agents” – reducing the time for certain mission-critical counterterrorism tasks from 32,000 hrs to one half hour.
