Software Application & Integration Engineer
Software Application & Integration Engineers work closely with our customers and partners integrating Chiliad’s search, analysis and knowledge fusion products into customer applications and other software products and systems.
Location: Washington, D.C. and Amherst, MA (active TS Clearance required for Washington DC positions)
Requirements:
- Active Top Secret clearance.
- MS in Computer Science or equivalent
- Mid-level: 2+ years Java development experience; C/C++ desirable.
- Sr.-level: 5+ years Java development on distributed web/application environments and 2+ years C/C++ programming.
- Strong experience in integrating software packages into existing systems.
- Knowledge of object-oriented design and analysis, multi-threading, socket programming, and file I/O.
- Strong experience in J2EE and internet technologies such as JSF, AJAX, JMS, JMX.
- In-depth understanding of entire development process, including specification, documentation and quality assurance.
- Strong programming background in Windows and Solaris environment.
- Knowledge of scripting languages.
- Experience with multiple application servers (e.g., Tomcat, JBoss, WebLogic, WebSphere).
- Able to self-manage.
Pluses:
- Database experience (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL,Apache Derby),
- System administration background,
- Knowledge of search system concepts
- Knowledge of various scripting languages (Perl, Python, Awk/Sed, Bash, etc.)
Project Manager
Location: Washington, D.C. (active TS Clearance required)
Responsibilities:
As a member of the Chiliad Professional Services organization, you are responsible for:
- Ensuring that a quality, integrated software solution is delivered in a timely manner, at budget, and to our client's satisfaction
- Working closely with the client to understand and manage their expectations.
- Working closely with Chiliad and third-party vendors to ensure delivery.
Requirements:
- Active Top Secret clearance
- BS degree and PMI or other project management certification.
- Prior project management experience required exhibiting ability to follow solid project management principles.
- Must be able to create and manage an overall project plan (including budget, structure, schedule, and staffing requirements) for one or more Chiliad engagements.
- Ability to monitor and report progress/changes against the plan.
- Ability to drive implementation by motivating and directing the project team, a team which may include cross functional departments at Chiliad, third-party vendors, partners, and the client.
- Proven ability to act as primary interface with the client regarding deliverables, changes, and sign-off on status and requirements.
- Ability to identify and communicate opportunities for new business.
- May include responsibility for technical development.
- Must be comfortable in matrix management environments and work effectively with others in managing complex projects.
- Strong people/communication skills to deal with company, customers, and vendors.
- Understanding of enterprise software technology stack
- Willing to travel regionally with some national and/or international travel.
Senior Software Engineer
Location: Amherst, MA (with or without a security clearance)
Responsibilities:
Core product engineering and development. You will also occasionally work closely with field engineers, customers and partners integrating our products into customer applications and 3rd party software.
Requirements:
- MS in Computer Science or equivalent
- 5+ years experience in Java development on distribute web/application environments.
- 2+ years C/C++ Programming experience.

Senior Software Engineer (Web Application Development)
Location: Washington, D.C (active TS Clearance required) and Amherst, MA (no clearance required)
Responsibilities:
- Help design and implement web-based applications to an established distributed search system using a mixed language development environment.
- Responsibilities will include changes to existing code as well as new code enhancements to search capabilities following developed software design and requirement specifications.
Requirements:
- MS in Computer Science or equivalent.
- 5+ years experience in Java development in distributed web/application environments.
- Strong experience in J2EE and internet technologies including JSF, AJAX, JMS, JMX.
- In-depth understanding of entire development process, including specification, documentation and quality assurance.
- Knowledge of object design and analysis, socket programming, file I/O, multi-threaded code debugging, JMS, JMX.
- Strong background in Windows and Solaris development environments a must.
- Experience with multiple application servers (Tomcat, JBoss, WebLogic, WebSphere, etc.).
- Able to self-manage.

Field Support Engineer
Location: Washington, D.C.. (active Top Secret clearance required)
Responsibilities:
- Acquire detailed working knowledge of Chiliad products and how they are utilized in varying operating system environments, hardware and network architectures.
- Provide first- and second-line technical support to Chiliad customers and clients.
- Provide software evaluation support to partners and system integrators.
- Setup and maintenance of product test environments.
- Help develop and maintain a customer support web site.
- Perform problem replication and product log analysis to quickly isolate bugs or provide effective operational workarounds to clients.
- Ensure Service Level Agreements are met and problem issues are properly directed and escalated as needed.
- Manage problem assignments according to priority and schedules.
- Work closely with other technical team members to manage/resolve open customer issues in timely manner.
- Contribute to corporate knowledge sharing by developing/accumulating knowledge-base articles for both internal and external parties and provide ad-hoc internal training to staff on new developments relating to the product or development environment.
Requirements:
- Active Top Secret clearance.
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent.
- Minimum 3+ years software engineering (only candidates with software development experience will be considered).
- Proficiency in Unix and/or Windows operating systems; systems administration experience preferred.
- Knowledge of server configuration and/or performance tuning.
- Working knowledge of network troubleshooting (i.e. TCP/IP, DNS, server ports, switches/routers, firewalls).
- Exceptional communication skills and customer service focus.
- Working knowledge of at least one of the following programming languages: Java, C++, or .NET; enterprise-level programming/debugging experience a plus.
- Understanding of end-to-end installation and configuration of 3rd party environments.
- Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
- Customer facing or consulting experience a plus.
